The worldwide use of polyurethane foam products gives rise to a large amount of waste, which results in incineration and landfilling and, in turn, has detrimental effects on environmental problems. Hence, the recycling of foam wastes is a high-priority topic for researchers to overcome this problem. This study aims to contribute to the highly efficient chemical recycling of flexible polyurethane foam via glycolysis and acidolysis. In glycolysis, different high molecular weight glycols and potassium hydroxide as catalysts were used to produce recycled polyol. In acidolysis, polyurethane scraps were recycled using high molecular weight glycols and dicarboxylic acids such as succinic acid and phthalic acid. The glycolysis and acidolysis were compared.
