Conventional solid lubricants use layered inorganic materials and PTFE. PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) is known for imparting very low friction and enhancing wear resistance and hence is used as very efficient solid lubricant (SL) for engineering polymers. However, PTFE has the disadvantages of endocrine disruptor risk and low biodegradability due to the inclusion of fluorine. In order to overcome the disadvantages of PTFE, high hardness PGA was applied to solid lubricants. PGA particles with a controlled particle size were used as a solid lubricant, and soybean oil-based polyester-polyol was prepared and applied as a lubricant base oil. PGA particles with a particle size of 1 micron were confirmed to be applicable as a solid lubricant.
