Dynamic properties of PDMS/CuNW nanocomposites for stretchable electrodes

One of the methods for manufacturing a stretchable electrode material is to form an electrical network by adding a conductive nanofiller to a ductile polymer matrix. However, most polymers are incompatible with nanofillers, and nanofillers form aggregates by van der Waals force, making it difficult to achieve desired properties. In this study, PDMS was used as the matrix and CNT and CuNW were used as the conductive nanofillers, and silicone oil was added to improve the dispersibility of the nanofillers. As a dispersing solvent, isopropyl alcohol, which has good dispersibility with CNTs and CuNWs and partially dissolves PDMS, was used. After fixing the amount of nanofillers that satisfies both mechanical and electrical properties, the nanocomposite was prepared by changing the content ratio of CNTs and CuNWs. The electrical and mechanical properties of the nanocomposites under cyclic strain were investigated.
