Synthesis of cyclic olefin polymers using various functional groups based on oxanorbornene derivative.

Cyclic olefin polymers (COPs) are an olefin-based high-performance amorphous polymer that is attracting academic and industrial attention due to its excellent performance. COPs have various interesting properties such as high transparency, electrical insulation, thermal and chemical resistance. COPs are attractive in various fields such as film, display, medical applications, and image sensors. In this study, we designed a series of COPs based on oxanorbornene derivatives. Various types of functional groups are introduced in the COP backbone. The chemical structures are confirmed by NMR and FT-IR spectroscopy, and the molecular weights of the polymer are investigated by GPC analysis. In addition, thermal properties are investigated using DSC and TGA measurements. Further, in the presentation, characteristics of the COPs including optical properties will be discussed in details.
