Mica of Muscovite Type with insulation strength is used as the main insulator for H/V motors above 3.3 kV. It has been confirmed that a large amount of Mica part-cles are detached from Company N's mica tape, which is delivered and used as the main insulator of H/V motors. Voids in the mica tape may be formed during VPI impregnation due to detached mica particles, which may cause partial discharge generation and breakdown of insulation. Therefore, based on the mica tape data sheet supplied to the manufacturer, 10 performance tests were conducted to confirm soundness, and the results were satisfactory. However, it is estimated that when touching the mica tape with your hand, a lot of mica particles adhere to the surface of the paper layer and break down easily due to lack of adhesive in the paper layer. Since the broken mica particles have a direct effect on the winding workability of Coil when manufacturing H/V motors, it was recommended to the manufacturer not to break off by adjusting the content of mica and binder.
