Photomultiplication (PM) type organic photodiode (OPD) has a significantly higher external quantum efficiency (EQE) compared to traditional OPD, drawing intensive attention. In addition to the conventional process of converting light into electric charge, PM OPD requires an additional process in which minority charges are trapped. This mechanism can be mainly caused by mixing several mass ratios of acceptors in the absorption layer. Herein, a thin perovskite thin film was introduced to induce photomultiplication without using an acceptor. This phenomenon was expected to appear as a minority charge trap by not only the energy level offset but also the energy level bending of the perovskite thin film by voltage.
