Deformable and stretchable energy-storage devices receive considerable attention for future technology developments, such as wearable devices and flexible displays using energy-storage devices of various sizes and shapes. However, Lithium-ion batteries (LIBs), which are part of conventional energy-storage devices, are incompatible with this trend as all components are bulky and rigid. Therefore, all components of LIBs should be deformable or stretchable. In this work, we employed physically or chemically cross-linked polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) based polymeric binders to provide stretchability and plasma-assisted mechanochemistry (PMC) process to enhance interfacial affinity between the binders and active materials. High ionic conductivity could also be achieved by adding an ionic liquid to the electrode and gel electrolyte. Furthermore, the dispensing process of all-paste-based materials can directly print and integrate the deformable LIBs regardless of form factor and size.
