Dynamics of Small Molecules in Polymer and Polymer Itself Investigated by NMR Spectroscopy

Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy has been extensively employed to identify various polymers in liquid state at the molecular level. Solid state NMR spectroscopic techniques have extended application scope of NMR spectroscopy to include 3-dimensional structure and dynamics of solid state polymers. Here we present representative examples of solid state NMR spectroscopy application to polymers to have dynamics information. In addition, Overhauser Dynamic Nuclear Polarization (ODNP) NMR technique to probe local (~ 1 nm scale) dynamics of water in pores/channels polymers will be introduced.
