Among the high temperature polymers, poly(amide-imide)s (PAIs) have been known as one of promising materials for many applications due to their high thermal stability and mechanical properties together with balanced processability. Also, several properties such as optical property and thermo-dimensional stability could be controlled by modifying monomer structures. In this study, we synthesized and polymerized two diacid monomers, containing an alicyclic ring, which is fastened with phenyl pendant groups, and a biphenyl group with bulky trifluoromethyl groups. Transparent and thermostable PAIs were prepared by polyamidation of the diacid monomers with diamine monomers. Detailed synthetic route and their properties will be presented.
