Recently, emerging materials including carbon nanotube, graphene and transition metal dichalcogenides (TMdCs) have attracted numerous attentions due to their unusual physical and chemical properties, which lead to unprecedented device applications. In this talk, I will discuss “exploring emerging materials” towards engineering the electronic structure of low dimensional materials and synthesis of single-crystal 2D materials. The new strategy for the growth of wafer-scale single-crystal hexagonal boron nitride film via self-collimation will be demonstrated. In addition, a detailed growth mechanism for the growth process is further outlined in the talk.
