This study is about preparing PLGA nanoparticles containing L-ascorbic acid to be applied for the detoxification of liver. PLGA (poly lactic-co-glycolic acid)) is a copolymer of lactic acid and glycolic acid, approved by Food and Drug Administration(FDA) as therapeutic material owing to its biodegradability and biocompatibility. We introduced vitamin C in the core of the PLGA particles to determine the properties of PLGA as a drug delivery material. We prepared drug containing nanoparticles by double-emulsion solvent evaporation/diffusion method. First emulsion was prepared by dispersing the water phase with L-ascorbic acid into the domain of oil phase containing PLGA. The mixture was dropped into the aqueous phase again to prepare second emulsion. As mentioned above, prepared PLGA nanoparticles can be applied biotechnology such as drug delivery systems by introducing the desired substance, which is hydrophilic like L-ascorbic acid, in the hollow of the obtained nanoparticles.
