In this work, liquid metal (Gallium) polyurethane foam (LMPUF) was produced by a facile stencil printing method. LMPUF is highly soft and deformable that can contain a large amount of liquid metal due to highly porous elastomeric network. The liquid metal in LMPUF allows electrical conductivity and its ability to undergo a solid-liquid phase transition allows reversible stiffness, i.e. the solidified metals can give the foam the enhanced mechanical property. The LMPUF can also self-heal to have electrical conductivity under the application of body heat after sustaining damage. The LMPUF developed in this work may find applications in soft robotics and wearable electronics.
