Position Summary:
Dow Corning’s Analytical Sciences organization seeks an Analytical Chemist to join our team in Dow Corning’s Jincheon facility and reports to a manager in Shanghai. This position is responsible to deliver high-quality hypothesis-driven analytical solutions to solve problems for Dow Corning using various analytical techniques.
Responsibilities:
Dow Corning’s Analytical Sciences organization is a global team of professionals responsible for Analytical Characterization of our silicone materials using chromatography and spectrometry for analytical characterization, development and application of new methods. This position will also utilize global standard tools and global/local ISO accreditations for data and sample analysis request management. This position collaborates and communicate with both local and global Science & Technology employees and shares technical solutions which allow further development of your silicone characterization skills.
Required and Desired Education and Experience:
A Ph.D in Chemistry or Material Sciences or related field, with industrial analytical expertise/experience is highly preferred. A MS of similar education background with strong hand-on analytical experience and broad materials/applications understanding as a minimum requirement.
• Expertise of application of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy to polymer systems, especially poly-silicones.
• Demonstrated application knowhow of chromatographic (e.g. GC, GC/MS, GPC, and HPLC) and/or spectrometric (e.g. FTIR, NMR, XRF) technology to solve problems.
• Agile learner on both characterization and silicone materials/products/applications.
• Capable of both working independently and collaboratively on new capability/method development and method transfer.
• Ability to use characterization skills to develop structure-property-benefit relationships.
• Capable of working with rapidly changing priorities and urgent customer issues.
• Fluent in English communications (both spoken and written).
