POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW OPENING Polymer Materials Scientist An opening exists in the laboratory of Prof. Patrick T. Mather at the Insitute of Materials Science, Univ. Connecticut, in the area of processing and characterization of new "shape memory" polymers under industrial sponsorship. The application-directed research involves the design, processing, and testing of biocompatible and/or bioresorbable polymers for biomedical devices with defined thermomechanical functionality. Experience with polymer processing, rheological and mechanical characterization, and biocompatibility/biodegradation testing are desired. The successful candidate will be incorporated into an interdisciplinary team involving other members of Prof. Mather's group (incl. polymer chemists) and researchers of the industrial sponsor. Strong writing and oral communication skills are needed for documentation of findings and interaction with our industrial sponsor. This one-year opening may be filled as soon as August 1, 2003 but no later than October 1, 2003 and will offer a competitive salary and benefit package. .........................................................
