The Society has experienced an impressive growth over the last 40 years, from 180 member in 1976 up to almost 4,000 members now. In the divisions of Molecular Electronics and Biomedical Polymers Korean scientists have made impressive contributions over this period. In my own field of Molecular Electronics the Korean industry has a world leading position in OLED displays, also thanks to the excellent academic environment and expertise in Korea. Within our institute we had the privilege to collaborate with a number of Korean institutions, also very recently jointly with the University of Mainz in an International Research and Training Group.
