Here we demonstrate the advantage of longitudinal scanning of the laser during fabrication of complex hierarchical polymer microstructures. Vertical pillars and walls are fabricated at speeds an order of magnitude faster than conventional scanning techniques leading to 70 times faster fabrication of complex polymerized arrays and hierarchies.
