Abstract
The increasing demand for foldable displays requires planarization coating materials that simultaneously exhibit excellent folding durability and high optical clarity. In this study, a synthesis platform for urethane acrylate oligomers was established to develop high-performance planarization coatings suitable for foldable display applications. The urethane acrylate oligomers were designed to balance flexibility, transparency, viscosity, and curability. Polyurethane acrylate was synthesized using PPG as a soft segment to provide flexibility, XDI to increase the refractive index, and IBOA as a reactive diluent to reduce viscosity. Based on this formulation, Si-MA and AA were incorporated to improve adhesion to hydrophilic glass substrates, and their contents were optimized. The optical transmittance, low-temperature storage modulus, refractive index, and adhesion strength of the resulting coating films were evaluated, providing a material design strategy for high-performance planarization coatings suitable for foldable display applications.
