Abstract
The self-assembly of the block copolymers is majorly governed by the volume fraction (f), degree of polymerization (N), and the Flory-Huggins interaction parameter (χ). To fabricate the block copolymers for extremely small, ordered nanostructures, the Flory-Huggins interaction parameter should be sufficiently high. In this study, we utilize glycidyl methacrylate (GMA) as the base monomer and poly(butyl methacrylate) as the counterpart block and apply two different pathways for the increment of block-to-block immiscibility. Hydrolysis and CO2-cycloaddition will be applied to the monomer to yield glycerol monomethacrylate (GMMA) and glycerol carbonate methacrylate (GCMA), which shows increased Flory-Huggins interaction parameter over 6 times, and were capable of forming ordered structure of sub-7nm domains.
