Abstract

Ionic skin is a flexible pressure sensor for wearable electronics. Self-healing ability and high sensitivity are crucial, determined by the ion-absorbing materials in the dielectric layer. These research focuses on investigating the interaction between ionic liquids (IL) and ion-trap groups in self-healing ion-adsorbing materials, aiming to enhance both self-healing properties and sensitivity. Some self-healing polyurethane (PU) with ion-trap group were synthesized and blended with IL to create self-healing PU-based ion-adsorbing materials. The results revealed a synergistic effect between the IL and the self-healing driving force of PU, accelerating the self-healing process of ionic skin. Furthermore, incorporating ion-trap groups into the PU decreases the initial capacitance while expanding the amount of capacitance change, thereby improving the sensor’s sensitivity. Ultimately, these self-healing, highly sensitive PU-based ion-adsorbing materials can be used in the actual scenario.
