Abstract
Bio-based polymers are a class of polymers which were derived from renewable resources. Great attention has been paid from both academic and industrial society since they are sustainable and renewable materials. Biocomposites are composed of plant fillers and polymer resins. Here we report a new kind of biocomposites called herb plastics composites (HPC). HPC is composed of herbaceous fibers and polymer resins. It is very different from wood plastic composites (WPC). HPC has fiber-like structures. The mechanical properties of HPC are much higher than WPC. This talk will review our recent research progress on HPC. It includes the manufacture and applications.
