Efficient and Low-Power Consumption Organic Light-Emitting Transistors

Abstract
The organic field-effect light-emitting transistors (OFE-LETs) combine the switching function of transistors with the function of light-emitting diodes, and have attracted attention due to their low leakage current and ease of integration. However, it has problems such as imbalance in electron and hole transport and insufficient energy transfer, resulting in low utilization of excitons and device efficiency. We proposed strategies such as improving the material morphology and the sensitization strategy of the light-emitting layer, among which the most representative one is the new device concept of spatially separating the carrier transport and exciton emission functions. Using a bipolar host material composed of a carbazole/oxadiazole hybrid molecule combined with a cyano group, we achieved balanced transport and broadened the exciton recombination region. Ultimately, OFE-LETs achieved high external quantum efficiency, current efficiency and brightness, and its performance reached the highest level of OLETs and met the requirements of future display application.
