Abstract

Using digitally driven biomixing with the Biowork Pen®, self-crosslinked hydrogels were prepared from gelatin, carboxymethyl cellulose, and chitosan. An oxidized formulation introducing covalent crosslinking demonstrated superior printability and structural fidelity over the physically crosslinked alternative. This advanced covalent network effectively halved both swelling and degradation rates, enabling the reliable construction of a 120-layer, 2.9 cm tall tissue scaffold. Biological assays confirmed excellent cytocompatibility and accelerated wound closure, showcasing the platform's potential for complex, stable multilayer bioprinting and tissue engineering.
