Abstract
Controlling liquid hydrodynamics at the solid-liquid interface is crucial for diverse industrial and environmental applications. This talk highlights our recent advances in understanding and harnessing physicochemical interactions on specialized interfacial composites. We discovered that contact-separation at the solid-liquid interface induces significant surface charge enrichment. This generates localized electric fields that exert long-range dielectrophoretic forces on polar liquids, dictating contact line slip behaviors. Leveraging this interfacial charge effect, we developed a novel approach where built-in micro-electric fields dramatically enhance reactive oxygen species (ROS) production for water disinfection. This method achieves highly efficient, broad-spectrum sterilization while allowing spontaneous nanoparticle recovery, thereby preventing secondary pollution. Our findings offer deep mechanistic insights into interfacial charge dynamics and present a sustainable, portable paradigm for next-generation green water purification technologies.
