Advanced Polymer Materials for Ionotronic Sensory Platforms

Abstract

Polymer-based wearable sensor platforms have emerged as key technologies for healthcare monitoring, human–machine interfaces, and soft robotics, owing to their intrinsic softness, stretchability, and tunable ionic properties. These characteristics enable polymeric materials to effectively detect a various external stimuli, yet achieving high-performance and reliable sensing remains challenging due to issues such as signal crosstalk, limited multimodal capability, and trade-off relationship between sensitivity and detectable range. To address these limitations, this work highlights several complementary strategies for polymer gel-based sensory platforms.  By synergistically integrating rational polymer material design with ionotronic device architectures, these studies propose practical design guidelines for next-generation wearable sensory platforms with enhanced sensitivity, detectable range, and multimodal sensing performance.
