Abstract
Initiated chemical vapor deposition (iCVD) enables the solvent-free, vapor-phase synthesis of diverse functional polymer films. Because the process operates at ambient temperature, iCVD polymers can be integrated into various delicate substrates without thermal or chemical degradation. This versatile platform allows for the precise incorporation of specific functionalities by selecting appropriate monomeric precursors, offering vast potential for advanced device applications. Indeed, iCVD coatings serve as critical building blocks in fields ranging from flexible electronics and selective membranes to tissue engineering scaffolds, stimuli-responsive drug delivery systems, and high-performance biosensors. This seminar reviews the recent progress and multifaceted applications of iCVD-derived polymer films across these diverse technological domains.
