Light conversion for photocatalysis and photodynamic therapy using organic-inorganic hybrid materials

Abstract

Considerable attentions on semiconducting organic materials have been attracted for various applications such as optoelectronic devices, multimodal imaging, and biomedical medicine. The semiconducting polymers usually maintain their conjugated structure for high quantum yields, good photostability, and excellent charge transfer property and, thus have opened a new horizon for interesting applications. These versatile applications of semiconducting polymers mainly based on the light-converting ability, enabling light conversion to light, to electron movement, and to heat. The generated light can be applied to solid-state lighting such as OLED; the generated electrons are useful for energy applications such as water-splitting and all-solid-state Li-ion battery; the generated heat is used for cancer therapy and for water evaporation to obtain pure water. We are going to demonstrate new, versatile semiconducting polymer-based, hybridized materials with effective conversion properties.
