S12 Women in Renewable Energy and Sustainability (WiRES) 2026
In celebration of Women in Renewable Energy and Sustainability, the Seventh Conference on Women in Renewable Energy and Sustainability (WiRES) will be held on Wednesday 30, 2026 in Busan, Korea which will be part of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) and the International Conference on Next Horizons in Polymers Commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Polymer Society of Korea (PSK 50) taking place the week of September 28th-October 1, 2026.
This call for papers is open to all applicants who are interested in submitting abstracts for poster presentations and contributed talks that cover the latest research findings from the last few years. The theme of this conference will be on key trends in renewable energy and sustainability research developed and led by women scientists and engineers from around the world. Focus will center on novel concepts, materials, devices, and architectures for renewable energy as well as for advancing sustainability through topics such as circular economy principles, green manufacturing, green materials, recycling and upcycling approaches to reduce the environmental footprint of emerging technologies, with transformative future global utilization. The scope will cover, but is not limited to, the following general areas.

- Conversion of solar light into electricity, thermal energy, chemical energy and fuel generation
- Energy storage including batteries and capacitors
- Fuel cells, ferroic materials (piezo, ferro, flexo)
- Thermoelectrics – materials, methods, and devices
- Circular economy aspects of renewable energy-harvesting and storage platforms
- Stainable devices and novel applications (e.g. self-powered devices, wearables and sensors)
- Green synthesis, processing, manufacturing, green materials, recycling and upcycling approaches
- Sustainable electronics (Flexible & Printed electronics, recyclable electronics, sustainable bioelectronics)
- Sustainable electronic material solutions for interfacing with biology
- Energy-Efficient Computing and Edge Devices
- The role of artificial intelligence in accelerating material development and enabling technologies
