Innovative Organic Technologies for Advanced Biosignals Acquisition

Organic electronics, thanks to recent advances in terms of materials, fabrication techniques, and innovative device architectures, is nowadays capable of providing considerable advantages in applications at the edge between electronics and biology, such as in vitro cellular monitoring, and seamless biosignal acquisition.
In this presentation we will focus on two different aspects of healthcare monitoring: on one hand, we will present new organic sensors and electrodes for cellular interfacing fabricated using convenient inkjet printing technologies; on the other hand, we will show novel approaches for the fabrication of epidermal and textile electrodes for the unobtrousive detection of biopotentials from the surface of the skin.
The peculiar versatility of organic technologies allows to approach the complex task of acquiring chemical and electrical biosignals from the (sub)cellular level to the whole organ, thus offering an unprecedented multi-scale approach for human body interfacing.
