The rapid advancement of photovoltaic technologies has been driven by the growing demand for renewable energy sources to address environmental pollution. Among the various solar cell technologies, organic photovoltaics (OPVs) are particularly notable for their ease of processing, low cost, lightweight nature, and flexibility. Typically, OPVs are created by forming a bulk heterojunction (BHJ), which consists of an active layer made from a blend of an electron donor and an electron acceptor. This solution-based process is conducive to producing large-area OPVs using roll-to-roll manufacturing techniques. In this study, we synthesized new bithiophene extended electron acceptors based on m-alkoxythenyl-substituted IDIC with three different end groups: IDT-BT-IC, IDT-BT-IC4F, and IDT-BT-IC4Cl.
