Conjugated polymers with Highly Crystalline and Percolated Morphology and their Thermoelectric Application

In this work we have designed and developed novel donor-acceptor-type conjugated copolymers with an isoindigo (IID) unit as building block. It was found that depending upon the symmetry of the donor unit, the crystallinity and packing changed significantly. This led to considerable differences in the doping and charge transport characteristics of the polymers. Importantly, polymer possessing fibril-like crystalline network showed excellent thermoelectric performance with high PF of 212 µW m-1 K-2 upon doping. Our study demonstrates the importance of the IID unit as a promising building block for high-performance conjugated polymers.
