The dynamicity of polymer, among various properties, is one of the most important factors affecting self-healing performance. To improve self-healing properties, current research focused on self-healing moiety inside of polymer backbone, which usually has low mobility. We controlled the dynamicity of the polymer chain with end group modification, which has the highest mobility in a polymer chain. The three end groups, short alkyl, long alkyl, and alcohol group were end-capped to the common polymer backbone. The dynamicity enhanced for alcohol-ended polymer since alcohol disturbed hydrogen bonding between the backbone. Not only self-dynamicity enhancement of alcohol-ended polymer but also a small amount of alcohol-ended polymer caused dynamicity enhancement. This work suggests a new strategy of polymer design, controlling dynamicity without modification of the backbone.
