Polypropylene (PP) is widely used in various industries due to its chemical resistance, electrical insulation properties, and low cost. However, processing ultra-high molecular weight PP and ultra-high molecular weight polypropylene-b-polyethylene copolymers (U(PP-b-PE)) is challenging due to their high melt viscosity. To improve the rheological properties and melt processing behavior, ethylene-based block copolymers are introduced into the polymer matrix. These ethylene units in the copolymers act as processing aids, reducing melt viscosity and enhancing flow characteristics as the proportion of propylene units decreases. Despite these modifications, the processing properties still need improvement. In this study, we blended three types of block copolymers (U(PP-b-PE) with polyethylene at 200°C for 5 minutes using a kneader and characterized the mechanical, thermal, and rheological properties of these blend films.
