In this study, surface of organic–inorganic hybrid perovskite (OIHP) with composition of formamidinium lead triiodide (FAPbI3) was treated with n-octyl ammonium iodide (OAI) or chloride (OACl) through simple solution post-treatment processing. Passivated FAPbI3 surface with OACl treatment effectively mediated surface defect density and resulted enlarged ON/OFF resistance ratio of 520 while untreated OIHP had the ratio of 3.91. Furthermore, chloride effect was revealed to induce p-doping of the OIHP surface which ultimately increased energetic barrier with Ag electrode. As a result, OACl is found to be effective to reduce parasitic current at high resistance state than OAI. This research provides a comprehensive understanding of surface passivation in OIHPs and its impact on memristive performance.
