Low sulfer fuel oil (LSFO) exhibids unique behavior at low temperatures compared to regular fuel oil. Displaying properties that oil between those of a solid and liquid, making difficult to remove it from the water surface using oil skimmers. Oil skimmers require extensive labor and time, so there is need to develop method that can remove oil quickly at once. In this study, we propose a new oil sorbent which polyolefin elastomer (POE) is dissolved in a bio-solvent, making it sprayable for large scale oil spills. The sprayed POE solution evaporates the bio-solvent within 8 h, leaving the POE film, which allows for the rapid removal of pollutants along with the film. Additionally, the sprayable solvent can be reused for up to 14 days even after dissolution, and the recovered film can be decomposed through pyrolysis and repurposed as raw material. As the results, the sprayable solvent offers a new method for capturing large scale spills with a single step and provides economic advantages by returning to raw materials.
