Strategy and Current Phase of HD Hyundai Oilbank in the Era of Energy Transition

In response to global warming, the social demand for the supply of clean energy and recyclable materials is rapidly increasing. In the era of this energy and resource transition, HD Hyundai Oilbank is conducting various activities including the clean hydrogen and ammonia related businesses, the bio-based raw materials and circulating resources, and the carbon capture and utilization. First, it is the first domestic oil refinery to supply ultra-high purity hydrogen for hydrogen fuel cell vehicles and is introducing clean ammonia in cooperation with global leading companies. In addition, we are striving to secure key technologies in the ammonia cracking catalysts and electrolyte membranes for fuel cells and water electrolysis applications. Second, we have successfully started the supply of SAF and bio marine fuel, which are manufactured by co-processing or mixing biomaterials with the conventional fuel in a certain ratio. And now we are seeking for the way to expand this strategy to plastic raw materials. Lastly, we are working hard on reducing the greenhouse gases and exploring new business opportunities through research on the carbon capture and utilization.
