Manufacture and Evaluation of Pouch Films for Large-Sized Lithium-Ion Battery Cells

In large battery-based products, it is essential to increase capacity and ensure safety, so the role and importance of pouch films are being highlighted. As sizes increase, pouch films with enhanced performance are required to ensure safety. This study focuses on producing pouch films with improved safety and performance by optimizing the manufacturing process and lamination process variables of CPP (cast polypropylene) film, which serves as a sealing layer material in the multi-layer structure of pouch films. To evaluate the performance of the manufactured pouch film, a comparative analysis of its physical properties was conducted with existing high-tech commercial products and it was confirmed that it was suitable for large-capacity lithium-ion battery cells.
