Analysis of the Properties of Cast Polypropylene Film under Various Tensile Conditions

The main required properties of the cell pouch that protects lithium-ion batteries from external factors include chemical resistance, voltage resistance, long-term reliability, heat sealing, and formability. The formability of the cell pouch refers to molding it into the necessary shape and structure without cracking to accommodate the cell. Methods reported to increase the formability of the cell pouch include control of property variations between machine direction (MD) and transverse direction (TD). In this study, we aimed to manufacture cast polypropylene (CPP) film and conducted experiments to increase formability by controlling the property variations in the MD and TD. According to the research objective, we verified and evaluated the property variations in the MD and TD under different tensile environments and temperature conditions. This study was conducted with support from the Ministry of SMEs and Startups (S3371768) and the Ministry of Science and ICT (RS-2024-00419614).
