This study conducted characteristic analysis and application research based on depolymerization of unsaturated polyester(UPR) under pressure. Unsaturated polyester, a thermosetting resin, is hard to recycle due to crosslinking and the 3D network generated through a curing process. Therefore, in the case of composite material waste made of thermosetting resin, a method of incineration or landfill treatment is mainly used. However, this method causes environmental pollution by generating harmful substances. Therefore, this study was conducted to maximize recycling efficiency by identifying the decomposition mechanism through chemical recycling of UPR and deriving optimal depolymerization conditions. To this end, a Glycolysis-based pressurization process was performed. The recycled polyol, the extracted oligomers, and the polyesters obtained through this can be reused in new UPR or polyurethane. This study contributes to the development of thermosetting resin recycling technology and will provide an eco-friendly and sustainable solution.
