Advancements in infrared (IR) plastic optics, particularly in long-wave IR (LWIR) applications, have been propelled by the utilization of sulfur from chalcogenide-based hybrid polymers via inverse vulcanization, leading to enhanced transparency to IR. Practical IR optical materials and imaging methods have recently been presented, along with new approaches utilizing LWIR imaging systems and diffractive planar optics such as Fresnel lenses. Sulfur-rich polymers have been used for room-temperature LWIR imaging with successful demonstrations of IR imaging. In this study, we aim to fabricate thinner, free-standing Fresnel lenses using sulfur-rich polymers through a polymer thermal imprinting process, thereby advancing thermal IR imaging.
