Robust and flexible fiber-like multifunctional sensor for use as smart textiles

Smart textiles with high sensitivity and rapid response for various external stimuli have gained attentions in human healthcare monitoring and wearable electronics. However, their widespread application is severely hindered by the intricate manufacturing process. Herein, a robust and fexible smart textiles as multi-function sensor for human health monitoring is constructed. A solution of PDMS/Ecoflex and fluorin-SAM was thinly coated on patterned glass. Two patterns of electrodes were configured to detect pressure and strain. A wire-type sensor was fabricated by rolling the sample using a glass substrate. The fabricated sensor was able to detect pressure and strain without interference using different detection mechanisms.
