Skin disease is a chronic autoimmune disease related to the skin, caused by a combination of genetic and environmental factors. Currently, the route of drug administration to improve skin diseases can be accompanied by serious immunosuppression and risk of pathogen infection through systemic administration, and medication through ointment is not satisfactory because it does not effectively penetrate skin lesions. In this study, a microneedle that can be administered with minimal skin penetration was manufactured to improve skin disease. Microneedle are called third-generation local/percutaneous drug delivery systems due to their ability to deliver large and small molecules for local and systemic effects by bypassing the stratum corneum, the toughest barrier of the skin. The physical properties of the microneedle were measured and the release of the loaded drug was evaluated. Additionally, a mouse model confirmed the effect of improving skin diseases of microneedle loaded with drug.
