Rechargeable batteries, such as lithium-ion or sodium-ion types, are extensively used in modern society to power various applications. However, due to safety concerns, solid-state batteries offer a promising solution by potentially eliminating these issues. To understand (electro)chemical, structural and/or mechanical phenomena within functional batteries, the measurements are taken during operation. Operando characterization facilitates the simultaneous acquisition of structural, chemical, and mechanical information, enabling the study of dynamic processes during operation. In this study, we investigated interfacial reaction processes in rechargeable batteries using operando SEM (scanning electron microscopy) and Raman analysis on a coin-type cell. We visualized these reactions within the coin-type cell using a scanning electron microscope. Using vacuum transfer system, we loaded the coin cell with open window to SEM vacuum chamber without air exposure.
