Stimuli-responsive injectable hydrogel-based smart drug delivery of anti-tumor agents has gained using a high interest in localized cancer therapy due to their advantages such as controlled drug release, biodegradability, target injection, and low toxicity. Upconversion nanoparticles (UCNPs) can be used to convert near-infrared light to ultraviolet or visible light and have a number of advantages for biomedical applications because of their high photostability, low autofluorescence background, deep tissue penetration depth. In this study, we designed thermo/ROS-sensitive injectable hydrogels that can release drugs due to ROS generation as well as PDT effect by 808nm laser irradiation. Their biocompatibility, physicochemical properties, drug release behavior, and phototoxicity were investigated.
