Cosmetic particle manufacturing technology is facing increasing demands for particles to exhibit superior functionalities, while also ensuring the sustainability of the overall fabrication process. This study investigated the preparation of multifunctional composite particles with controlled morphology by adopting a 100% aqueous, green spray drying process using only naturally derived materials. First, new cosmetic composite particles with skin-care functionalities were produced by incorporating hyaluronic acids into a spherical hybrid particle of calcium carbonate and cellulose nanofiber. Additionally, silica particles with a controllable dome-shaped morphology were further compounded with titanium dioxide nanoparticles to produce optically active cosmetic particles with soft-focus effect and outstanding blocking properties against harmful wavelengths. These results suggest a high applicability for environmentally friendly manufacturing processes of multifunctional cosmetic particles.
