Design of Polymer Materials for High-Performance Battery Application

Considering the recent ever-increasing demands on the development of new ESSs, particularly rechargeable batteries for electrified transportations as well as grid-scale applications have been constantly changing beyond the energy limit of traditional lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) toward post-Li batteries consisting of metal battery anodes, conversion-type high capacity cathode, stretchable electrodes, etc. Breakthroughs in the battery fields always require discovering new redox chemistry which naturally entails multidirectional considerations on the charge storage mechanism, necessary charge transport medium, newly raised problems, and most importantly safety concerns. Here, I propose functional polymer materials for high-performance rechargeable battery applications.
