In the case of liquid crystal, since it reacts very sensitively to electricity and magnetic fields, the most important technology is to align the LC on the substrate. Since the rubbing method using mechanical friction with a cloth has disadvantages such as dust generation and electric leakage, the photoalignment method was adopted to supplement these. In this study, PO6-CMA2, a copolymer material, was synthesized and an alignment solution containing a regular dispersive liquid crystal and a photoinitiator was prepared. The photodimerization of chalcone in PO6-CMA2 was used for alignment first, and then a photoinitiator was selected to proceed with a radical reaction. Alignment solutions according to the photoinitiator content were prepared and the photoalignment property on the copolymer material was investigated. The optimized photoinitiator content was selected based on the photoalignment analysis, and this is expected to improve the photoalignability.
