In recent years, colloidal photonic crystals for electrophoretic displays have attracted attention due to their clear structural color and low power consumption. Voltage bias induces changes in the colloidal lattice spacing, generating a structural color change in response to Bragg's law. In this study, we developed an electrophoretic display based on colloidal photonic crystals using polymeric core-shell microspheres dispersed in a non-polar medium. The shell enhances dispersibility in the non-polar medium, while the core achieves refractive index contrast with the medium. In the non-polar medium, the microsphere surfaces are charged using a charging agent that forms inverse micelles and preferentially adheres to the microsphere surfaces.
