The conductivity of conjugated polymers has been improving annually; however, their high performance rapidly diminishes over time due to low stability. The side chain of conjugated polymer (CP) increases the solvent affinity of CP, but after film casting, it can be a factor of steady performance decrease due to thermal motion. The thermocleavable side chain (TCS) is successfully evaporated from the CP that annealed after film casting. In addition, during the annealing process, the structure of the side chain changes from ester to carboxylic acid, which makes the high hydrogen bonding characteristics enable the implementation of a more high-stability device. Such TCS-CP can be effectively used as a p-type material for a high-stability OPD and in OECTs where the COOH functional group is used as an ion transporter.
