Continuous Structure via Transfer Process Based on Release Rate Calculation for Efficient Organic Photodetector

In this research, an efficient sensitive layer is designed for photodetectors, featuring a continuous single acceptor and a bulk-heterojunction structure. This structure implements the advantages of both structures, the planar junction, and the bulk-heterojunction. To fabricate a stable continuous structure, a transfer process is applied. The process is optimized though the calculation of the energy release rate at each interface, considering temperature and velocity during the process. Consequently, the organic photodetector (OPD) with the continuous structure is successfully realized via transfer printing, and the device exhibits superior detectivity and rapid response by forming continuous structure, which contributes to dark current suppression and photocurrent improvement. Through investigation of charge recombination in the OPD structure using optical and electrical analyses, the continuous structure-based OPD achieves wider frequency ranges detection with reduced noise signal.
