Stretchable Bioelectronic Systems for Eye-Care with Smart Contact Lenses

A stretchable bioelectronic system have been widely investigated for smart healthcare with the continuous monitoring of bio-signals. To prevent and treat various eye diseases, it is important to continuously monitor bio markers in a non-invasive manner. However, the current wearable bioelectronics system have some critical challenges: softness, stretchability, patternability, biocompatibility. Here, we develop a stretchable wearable bioelectronics system via nanowire-metal hybrid electrode for smart intraocular pressure (IOP) contact lens (CL), smart LED CL and smart glucose CL. We successfully developed a stretchable wearable bioelectronic system for eye-care with smart contact lens. All stretchable components, excluding the rigid chip, are precisely integrated into the stretchable substrate with optimized process for mass production. The Smart IOP CL, smart LED CL and smart glucose CL continuously monitored intraocular pressure, glucose under the stretching condition.
